Happy Post (Post) St Pats Day!

Hello, my Friends!

Yes, here it is Easter and I am only JUST getting around to talking about the St Pats Weekend...And as it is only 50 weeks until the next one, never to soon to start planning.

Paul's excuse for not Blogging here is, as all of you who were at the shows know, is that he is SICK. Sick like the Irish had a potato famine. Full blown FLU, poor guy. He made it through the shows, barely, and then promptly lost his voice, completely and totally. (just in time for our show with the New Folk Collective, this past Friday, which, we sadly, had to cancel)

Here is a picture of Paul on St Pats, in his Happy Place....

All of the shows were WAY too much fun, even with Paul sick. People do NOT mess around about St Pats, and this year it started on Friday. On Saturday, we played Sham Rocks in St Paul for the first time, in a tent, at 2 in the afternoon, and I thought, who the heck will be there then????

MAYBE 1000 PEOPLE! All dressed to the 9's in Green. I felt SO under dressed, not easy to do in Black Velvet and Rhinestones! And then onto Charlie's for the evening...

Sunday was video with the Tim Malloy's, shot by Bill Sitiler. Here is Bill and Adam conspiring...

And Johnny, the Spirit of St Pats Day himself, with a fan who looks like he has WAY more energy left than Johnny....

On Monday we started at 4 and the place was packed, and went up from there. We made SO many new friends! And of course, no St Pats would be complete without , oh yes, Crazy Dancing Guy!!!!!!!! Who came down and was as crazy a dancer as one could ever have hoped for , bringing all of his friends and making our night! We love you Crazy Dancing Guy and Friends!

There are far too many moments to remember, the Twisted Sisters, Vodka Lady, the nice woman who took our tip jar around, the Possee, and Georgia Guy. YOU are the ones who make the show. You and all of the others my still-clouded tired brain is forgetting. (Let me know if I am missing you, and I sure will take care of that!)

We came. We played. We had a Blast. We fell down, and are still trying to get our brains back. Thank you all SO for coming, and thanks to the Stillwater paper who had us on the cover, and the St Croix Valley River Press, who did such a fine article on us and Charlie's Pub.

As Paul has all of the pictures of ME on his camera and he is still lying in bed , silently, I will leave you with a lovely serene picture of ME, taken on a mountain, outside of LA the day BEFORE the madness....

We can't wait to see you, each of you, and all of you, again very soon. Please come back for some more fun, because, as ever, it isn't any fun without you!

Love and Irish, Lorraine

It really looks like you guys had great fun (despite Paul being so sick).
I want to see pictures of you with your shamrock whip!

Paul Update:

Still no voice! WIll the Golden Throat ever come back? Will we be forever having ME do all the vocals whilst playing fiddle? (short career , Folks!)

Will he be able to sing on Friday????

Actually, most likely not, to that end we have left Lojo Russo a voice mail, asking her to come and be the Stunt Voice for Paul....

More on the saga as it continues....

So Paul is going to mimick singing while Lojo is going to project her voice to make him sound like he's actually singing?

I was looking again at the picture of Paul with CDG and it feels so strange because I do keep the impression that CDG was quite tall and yet he seems so much smaller than Paul, whom I don't remember as being such a giant (of course, being short, everyone is taller than I am, but still...).

Paul is a GIANT Leprechaun. ...maybe if Lojo says yes you can bill it as 'Paul/Lojo and Lorraine'

I love that your playing inspires such community.

Get better soon, Paul!

I feel another round of Unicorns vs. Leprechauns coming on...

I don't think anyone will notice that Lojo is singing for Paul. They DO look rather alike. He can move his lips and she can hide behind him...

Not that she has called me back yet.

SOME people......And me such a rock Goddess!

I’m not dead yet. Still can’t manage to talk though so I think singing by Friday would be nothing short of a miracle. Thanks for all the well-wishes from everyone and I do hope to be better soon. I am hopeful that this will not have any long-lasting effect on my voice, but I guess time will tell.

St. Pats was a blast, and I’m really glad that all who attended had a great time. I can’t wait to be back on my game again and have some fun! Summer is just around the corner and I am itching to get both my bicycle and motorcycle out, thought not at the same time. I hope you are all well and that you all stay healthy and happy.

News just in...

Johnny from the Tim Malloys will be playing with Paul and I this weekend at Charlies! The Lojo is gigging and Johnny had a rare hole in his schedule.

Thank Fate for that one!

It was a hard call on which of them to call first and I had little hope that either would be free at the last minute, but the Johnny has come thru....

CDG looks taller when he's dancing - it's all that hopping. I think he's about 5'10".

Paul is tall, though. (Mmm, tall guitar players . . . )

Here's hoping Johnny has a voice - there wasn't much left of it by the end of the Tuesday Bedlam gig.

Fiddle tunes, lots of fiddle tunes . . .

This just in...Paul will not be at the gig tonight, sadly, he is simply too sick as of yet and can barely talk, poor guy. SO it will be the Jonnny and Lorraine show.

Which is never dull....

Awwww! Poor Paul.
But he is reasonable in his staying home. He would never get rid of the cold otherwise.
Best wishes Paul.

Say hello to Johnny for me, will you, please? And have some greta fun.

Thanks everybody. I hate not playing, but I just want this to get better. It's very unnerving to not be able to speak, much less sing. I have been told that various forms of this sickness have caused laryngitis that can last well over a week, and I'm on day nine.

Thanks for sitting in for me Johnny! Have a great time tonight and I'll see you guys soon (I hope!).

Thanks! I am still not totally over whatever the heck I got, and I have a hunch my voice is going to take a month or two to return to normal. Still, I think I have about 80% of it back, so I'm not complaining.

Sorry this site has not updated much, but I have been insanely busy finishing my PhD. I have about one more month of hell to crawl through, but then it should all be over... in the good way. *impish grin*

I haven't even downloaded my pictures from St. Pats or Easter yet! It's a good thing that stress can't kill you... What do you mean it's possible??!... Crap.

I hope both Lorraine and I are up and playing soon (perhaps this Friday and Saturday) as I really miss playing and hanging out with all you wonderful people.
